Hi, I am Sharon. I have worked full time and had bookkeeping clients on the side for many years. My experience ranges from working as an assistant accountant in a manufacturing firm to training in accounting software companies and training bookkeeping and business subjects at college.
Prior to the start of 2020, I was working in Sydney in an accounting software firm during the day, I loved the company and the people. I then went home to work on books and tax at night and on weekends. I was able to do this as a single woman with (almost) adult children.
In March 2020, I contracted bronchitis and decided I would temporarily move outside Sydney for 10 days to avoid contact with COVID-19. In that time, we all had to work from home and I decided to stay in the country with my new partner.
As companies were calling people back to the office, I found a dilemma, Do I go back to Sydney and continue working a corporate job, a job that paid ok but had taken a turn in direction, or give corporate life away to pursue a lifelong dream of working for myself full time and traveling.
I chose to leave the corporate life, although I still do some consulting, my main business now is bookkeeping and tax.
